We are dedicated to representing public clients—including States, local governments, Tribal Nations, and nonprofits—in a wide range of affirmative litigation matters.

Our areas of focus include public health, environmental law, consumer protection and antitrust. Through close collaboration and a deep understanding of the unique needs and perspectives of public entities, we deliver strategic legal solutions that drive meaningful outcomes. Our representative matters include:

Native American Boarding Schools
We represent the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California and the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes of Oklahoma first major lawsuit against the U.S. government’s Indian boarding schools, which for decades splintered families and stripped Indigenous children of their language and culture.
Icon-Antitrust
Blue Cross Blue Shield Antitrust
We represent a group of nonprofit hospital systems in the fight for fair competition in the health insurance market. Our latest antitrust opt-out case against Blue Cross Blue Shield challenges insurers for stifling competition and driving up healthcare costs—practices that hurt both providers and patients.

Forever Chemicals (PFAS)
We represent the Michigan and Illinois Attorneys General against 3M, Bayer Corp., DowDuPont and a dozen others for polluting waters for decades with toxic "forever chemicals" and continuing to actively promote the chemicals as safe to manufacture and use.

Opioids Litigation
We represent the Cherokee Nation in a lawsuit against distributor Morris & Dickson Co. for oversupplying the market with highly addictive prescription opioids while failing to maintain effective controls against diversion. FHC previously represented the Cherokee Nation, the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, and other Tribal nations in the National Opioids Litigation, resulting in the first Tribal settlement of its kind.

Social Media
We represent the five Tribes in their legal action against the five largest social media platforms—TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, and YouTube. The suit seeks to hold these companies accountable for their role in exacerbating the mental health crisis for Tribal youth.

JUUL Products
FHC represented the Muscogee (Creek) Nation in an action against Juul Labs Inc., for deceptively advertising vape products and underplaying the products' dangers to Tribal youth.
